Fully custom lists for monsters, NPCs, and whatever else
For a long time you’ve been able to add personal notes, custom abilities, or custom magic items like your kingdom’s reign artifacts to the app and add them to any spell list. (Double tap the potion icon!)
Now, in addition, you can create, play, and share homebrew spell lists! They open similar to the magic caster lists, complete with even the on-field spell tracking feature!
You can even add custom abilities, items, or notes into homebrew lists as you make them!
There’s no limits. In fact, there’s also intentionally no “validity” checking. What does Summon Dead mean with “Magic Ball” selected? Well, you can decide that! There’s also no need for Archetypes that change frequency or the like, as you can just set whatever you want, or make a quirky custom archetype with the custom abilities feature and add it to the list.
(Are you someone that thinks homebrew is a blight on Amtgard and don’t want to see even the option in your app? I’ve got you covered, you can hide all mention of it in the settings menu. Live and let flurb!)
Anyways, this is a huge update. It also is coming following a major surgery for me, and there were updates I made before that. Below is the best full patchnotes and change log I can manage haha:
New features:
- Full homebrew support! Make lists! Read the above text wall for more about this massive new feature!
- Lists can be made and viewed from anything in the spell book!
- All lists can be shared with other players via the same export/import feature as spell lists!
- You can edit a custom information box to put the garb, armor, shields, and weapons, or description or anything else!
- Spell tracking support in view mode like normal lists!
- Quickly make an extra custom entry or note and add it to the list, all in the edit view!
- This is massively comprehensive. The app now essentially supports any LARP that has abilities. I’m excited to see what people use it for!
- To improve battlefield hardiness, when the Spell Tracker is open in a view mode of a list it will now do a partial lock of things that would navigate you away from the page, or that would reset the Spell Tracker:
- Confirmation lock Edit and Save/return–you’ll need to press them 3 times when the spell tracker is open, and it’ll show that confirmation counter, which resets after 1 second. This also applies to the back button on your device, which hits the Save & Return button!
- The Spell tracker button itself has an extra single press confirmation to close it, as that will reset tracking.
- The Clipboard/Review button is disabled.
- You can now delete multiple spell lists at once by pressing delete after selecting a slot, selecting more lists, and then tapping the delete button three more times.
- You can still delete just one spell list by hitting delete on that slot’s button that appears, or by continuing to tap.
- This is the same as the inventory/custom entries feature’s system! That was developed after, so, this is back-porting that to another part of the app.
- Also improved it–it now shows number of selected entries for deletion, both for spell lists and items/custom entries.
QoL:
- Default spell list names changed from `Build + <Internal ID slot>` to `<Class> + <Number of lists for that class>`
- New filtering by class in the magic user spell lists! Press one of the buttons above the search bar to automatically fill it with a search by class.
- You can now view basic information about each magic user class by clicking the button in their list page that says your level and class.
- This was done to make the feature in homebrew, then also rolled to other magic users because it’s nice!
- This does not currently update for monsters (Kitsune and the Elves–band name?). I will make it do that later, and those already include their information as a special tooltip on their list.
- Export/Import buttons for spell lists and custom entries are now “Export (Copy)” and “Import (Paste)” to better clarify that these are both sharing features, and your copy paste to duplicate a list or entry!
- Player Inventory / Notes renamed to Inventory / Custom Entries to better clarify what this feature is. You can use it for notes still of course, but, it’s a huge system for adding custom abilities and magic items like your kingdom artifacts and such!
Fixes:
- Resolved issues with container sizing on the spell list page and items/notes page when you have a massively high number of entries (like 230+).
- This is not the sort of bug that I suspect anyone has seen. But, if you have, thank you for using and enjoying my tome so much!
- It was possible to very rapidly, accidentally, mash the import button and duplicate a list or item/note a lot. Technically working as expected, as it was duplicating the list once per press. But, it lagged the app and could cause loss of functionality on some devices, so I’ve added a very short cooldown to prevent this from happening.
- (Technically, this is a “warmup” and not a cooldown. You can no longer immediately import a list within 0.3 seconds of loading the scene. 0.3 seconds felt like a nice balance for allowing intentional multiple duplications while preventing it from happening accidentally…this is the sort of obsessive testing that I do lol)
- When setting specific items/notes for a spell list from that list’s view mode, the new export/share buttons were overlapping with the Delete button. This has been fixed!
- Certain symbols used for delimiters within spell list export for list names will be trimmed when exported, because I missed them after recent revision of the feature. You can still use them locally (such as a comma), but if you export a list with a name containing a symbol that would cause import issues it will be removed.
- Similarly, > and < will be trimmed from items/note names and tags.
